Welcome to

Great North Inn & Suites

There is nothing lavish here, and we would rather not pretend otherwise. What there is: rooms that are properly clean, a front desk with a person behind it at three in the morning, and a pool that stays warm through a Minnesota February.

The Children's Discovery Museum and the Judy Garland Museum share a site a quarter of a mile up the road — five minutes on foot. Pokegama Lake and the Mississippi are a few minutes by car, and the Chippewa National Forest starts west of town.

Why stay with us

Four things we will stand behind

No awards, no star ratings, no invented review scores. These are the reasons guests actually give.

  • Kept properly clean

Housekeeping daily, and a standard the front desk will happily be held to.

  • Someone here all night

The front desk is staffed 24 hours. Late arrival, lost key, directions at midnight — there is a person.

  • Dogs stay free

Two per room, any size, no fee. Most places in town charge about $25 a night per dog.

  • Pool and hot tub

Indoors, warm all winter, under a cedar ceiling with the daylight coming in.
